Another Top-Five Finish for Syrell Racing, Michael Barnes at Oswego

OSWEGO, NY (June 17, 2019) – Syrell Racing and driver Michael Barnes continue to push for more at Oswego Speedway, resulting in yet another top-five finish in Oswego’s Novelis Supermodified division.

Saturday night marked the first lone 50-lapper of the season at Oswego Speedway, with teams and officials working quickly to beat the rain that had defeated every other racing venue in the area.

Fortunately, the quick work of teams and officials saw the entire 50-lap distance covered, with Barnes again battling within the top-five positions all night long.

Dave Shullick Jr. and Tyler Thompson had their way with the field for the majority of the A&P Auto Parts special at The Steel Palace, with Otto Sitterly eventually coming on to land the runner-up spot between the two early leaders.

Barnes was in a battle all night long with the likes of Sitterly, Brandon Bellinger, Logan Rayvals and Dave Gruel, eventually driving the No. 68 to a fifth-place finish at night’s end behind Shullick, Sitterly, Thompson and Bellinger.

Rayvals, Gruel, Dan Connors Jr., Jeff Abold and Alison Sload were the top-ten after 50-laps, trailing Barnes.

The Syrell Racing team returns to Oswego this Saturday for their third straight night of action in the Helena Chemical Company 50.

Hot laps begin on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., with the rescheduled driver autograph session at 5:15 p.m., time trials at 6:20 p.m. and racing at 7:00 p.m.
